Most of the tutorials I post on my blog are originally video tutorials posted on my Youtube channel. Today, I made a small change. I prepared a special detailed illustrated tutorial that will be posted uniquely on my blog. I truly hope that you will find it easy to follow. You are more than welcome to post the result of your creation in the comment box or send it to me by email.
In every Mandala, you have to start by tracing a Mandala grid.
What is a Mandala grid?
A Mandala grid is a base structure that simplifies the drawing procedures and eases our task in keeping the symmetry.
The mandala grid measures are not standard. They totally depend on the design you are creating. But the only unchanged fact is that the grid lines must be equally divided so the gap between each line will be equal.
For more details on how to trace a Mandala grid you can watch my tutorial video where I explain more about it. CLICK HERE
In this tutorial the Mandala grid needed has the following features:
The distance between grid lines: 22.5 degrees (use a protractor to trace them)
The 11 circles requires has the following radius, respectively: 0.5,1, 2, 2.5, 2.8, 3.5, 3.8, 4.2, 5, 6, and 7 cm. (use a compass)
In the picture below I show you an idea of the patterns we will be using in this Mandala, but at every different step I will explain what shape to draw and how to fill it with designs.
Ready to start? Come on prepare the materials needed, trace the Mandala grid and let's start drawing!
Step 1:
To draw a Mandala we always start from the center.
I have posted a small picture of the basic shapes of Mandala. You can check the following video for more details about the basic shapes of a Mandala. Click HERE
Start by drawing a regular petal on each 2 grid section.
Fill each petal with a small petal arc.
.
Step 2:
. Trace the outline of the first circle.
. Draw a Petal Arc on each grid section.
. Add a small line in each arc petal.
Step 3:.
In the third circle, trace a regular petal on each 2 grid section.
Inside of each drawn petal, trace another petal that is smaller. Trace few shadowing lines around the summit.
Step 4:
Between each two petals trace curves, from big to small, starting from the outside in.
Step 5:
In the distance between the outline of the third circle and the outline of the fifth circle trace petal arcs going from big to small.
To get a better result, start from the center, trace the biggest petal arc, then draw petals on the right and petals on the left as shown in the picture.
Step 6:
Trace the outline of the 4th and 5th circle, making sure not to overwrite on the petal arcs.
Fill the gap with vertical lines.
.
Step 7:
To learn more about the basic shapes of a Mandala CLICK HERE. In the gap between the 5th an 6th circle, trace a pointed petal on each grid section.
Step 8:
. Trace a regular petal on the space between the 6th and 8th circle. The petal is drawn between two pointed petals.
Step 9:
.Draw a swirl on each internal bottom side of the petal.
Step 10:
Taking the swirls as a base, trace a small petal reaching by its summit the outline of the 7th circle.
Trace the outlines of the 7th and 8th circle making sure you don't overwrite the drawn designs.
Step 11:
On the gap between the 7th and 8th circle, and between each 2 big petals, trace a small petal
Step 12:
Trace the outline of the 8th circle
Step 13:
On the space extended between the 8th and last circle, trace a triangle, starting from the summit of one small petal and ending on the summit of another small petal.
Then trace a vertical line in the center of this triangle or simply retrace the grid line already drawn.
Decorate the left side of the triangle with diagonal lines.
Step 14:
Trace the outline of the 9th and 10th circle.
Step 15:
As a last step, trace petal arcs in the gap between the 9th and 10th circle.

My Meditative Coloring Books
As mentioned in the welcome message, if you are a fan of Mandala coloring books I invite you to add my books to your collection. Each book contains 40 original hand drawn designs and I am sure that coloring these Mandalas will make you happy and relaxed.
Thank you for choosing this tutorial and I hope that you will enjoy drawing this beautiful Mandala design. The tutorial is available in pictures, text, and in a video that you can see at the bottom of the article.
All my mandala tutorials are destined for beginners. And for those who are pro in drawing, you can always be inspired by these designs to come up with your own beautiful and wonderful Mandalas.
Drawing a Mandala doesn't require having any artistic skills. You could be a person who is been repeating to himslef " I can't draw" "I can't draw" and guess what? This art will surprise you. Because in meditative arts every person is an artist.
So come one get those pens ready and let's start!!
There are few materials that you always have to have by your side when drawing a Mandala.
You can draw a free handed Mandala, or a Mandala with a grid as a base. In my tutorials, I always start with a Mandala grid as it makes it easier for you to understand, and for me to explain the different steps required.
A mandala grid is formed from a number of circles and grid lines. The idea is to use these lines, circles, and sections to place the patterns and shapes of your choice. This will help you maintain symmetry.
A mandala grid doesn't have standard measures. It depends fully on the design you have in mind.
These are the measures required for this Mandala design:
Circles: (radius) 2cm, 3.5 cm, 4 cm, 5 cm, 7 cm, and 8 cm.
Grid lines: 20 degrees.
Find below a sketch of the required Mandala Grid for this project.
Mandala Grid
This tutorial has 13 different easy steps.
Step 1:
In this step Start by drawing intersected curves in the center of your Mandala. Remember the video at the end of this article will show you how the curves are done. And if you want to quickly jump to that video tutorial CLICK HERE.
Step 2:
In this step, start by retracing the outline of the first circle, the 2 cm radius circle. Then draw regular petals in the space between the first and second circle, taking the outline of the 3.5 cm radius circle as a border line for your petals. Each petal will be traced on 2 grid sections. *The intersection between the circles and grid lines make small sections. These sections are what we will take as a landmark for placing our patterns.
Step 3:
In this step, add a double outline to the petal you drew in step 2.
In order to do so, start from the same start point as the previous petal but make it reach the outline of the third circle ( 4 cm radius circle).
Step 4:
Between the petals, add a cruve that reaches the outline of the 3.5 cm circle, and on top of this curve add a circle to make it look like a flower bud.
Step 5:
Retrace the outline of the 4 cm radius circle.
Step 6:
Now trace arc petals in each grid section in the space between the 3rd and 4th circle.
Step 7:
Inside each petal arc you drew in step 6, draw a curve starting from the left bottom side and reaching the top right side of the arc petal.
Step 8:
Decorate the space created between the curve and the arc. Add a number of arc petals going from large to small. Color in black the empty spaces.
Step 9:
Trace regular petals in each grid section. Each regular petal is above one arc petal and its summit reaches the outline of the 7 cm circle.
Step 10:
Between each petal, add a tear drop reaching the outline of the 7 cm circle.
Step 11:
Taking the summit of the petals drawn in step 9 as a starting and ending point, trace regular petals between the space of the 7 cm and 8 cm circle.
Step 12:
Between the petals you just traced, add black tear drops.
Step 13:
Trace the outline of the last circle. Add a very small drop on the top of each petal trace in step 11.
If you like to see how it was done step by step, you can also watch the video below. It is extremely helpful. And with both methods (video tutorial and pictures tutorial) I am sure you will come up with an extremely beautiful Mandala.
I will be very very happy if you share the result with me.
Thank you for trying this tutorial and for visiting my blog. Remember that you could subscribe to both my blog and channel so you could be the first to try the New tutorial the minute I post it.
After I drew this Mandala, I felt like adding few more details to it. And I made a black and white copy and a colored copy. Which one do you prefer?
For this Mandala, and every simple black and white Mandala, you need the following materials: A4 paper, compass, protractor, pencil, ruler, eraser and drawing pen.
Directions
In this tutorial, we go through the detailed steps of drawing a Mandala. I show you how to trace this same exact design step by step.
Mandala drawing is one of the most relaxing activities you could practice to unwind and alleviate stress.
This tutorial is perfect for beginners. At a first sight this Mandala might look complicated, but the tutorial is presented in a way that makes it look very easy.
Linked to this tutorial, is another step by step tutorial on how to trace Mandala patterns. In fact I have used four of the patterns in "Mandala tutorial #2" to trace this beautiful, yet simple and easy Mandala.
Tracing a Mandala grid before starting your Mandala is important to help you respect symmetry between patterns, but I promise to show you very soon how to trace a free hand Mandala.
Nevertheless, even if the grid helps you in tracing your Mandala easily and respecting symmetry and size, but as a beginner you might at first have shaky lines and uneven shapes and that is totally OK. Remember that the beauty of hand drawn Mandalas resides in their imperfections.

My Meditative Coloring Books
As mentioned in the welcome message, if you are a fan of Mandala coloring books I invite you to add my books to your collection. Each book contains 40 original hand drawn designs and I am sure that coloring these Mandalas will make you happy and relaxed.
Mandala Drawing is a therapeutic art. It has been used by the Buddhist and Hindus as a method of meditation; They incorporated in their drawing a number of religious symbols. The mandala was originally drawn with colored sand, and wiped out at the end because the underlying message of a Mandala is that nothing is permanent.
Drawing a basic Mandala is much easier than you would imagine. I remember when drawing a Mandala was a wonderful mystery. I still remember coloring Mandala books and wondering how they drew them, until one day I decided to give it a try. And ever since Mandala drawing became my therapy, my passion and my life. And I decided to turn it into my work and what they say is so true; When you turn your passion into your work, your work becomes your passion.

Directions
1- As in every Mandala, we start by tracing a Mandala grid. For a detailed tutorial on How to trace a Mandala Grid please check the following link: https://youtu.be/joc5H6L3_r0
**The mandala grid in this tutorial has 5 different circles ( 1,3,5,7, and 9 cm)
and the grids are separated by 15 degrees.
2-The basic Mandala shapes I used in this Mandala tutorial are the petal and arc petal. 3- Start by tracing one petal on each two grid sections, shifting between black and red. 4- Trace the outline of the smaller circle. 5- On the second row, start by tracing one red petal followed by a black one on each two grid sections. And on the following row, shift the petals one grid section to the right, starting by drawing the red petal from the summit of one red petal from the bottom row and landing on the summit of the black petal from the bottom row. And so on until the whole Mandala outline is traced. 6- Start by filling the red petals with patterns. Start by tracing a curve, then a number of arc petals from big to small, starting by the biggest petal, then draw those on the sides.

How I came to centering my whole life around meditative arts?
Ever heard of the famous saying that "Rock bottom is the gateway to spiritual growth" ?
Well, few years back I hit rock bottom, and believe me when I say that nothing hurts as much. Suddenly, you find yourself questioning your whole existence. Being a resilient person, I stood up again with a strong life mission. Help all those in pain, help those betrayed, hurt and injured to find the healing power they have within.
I started meditating through art a while back and this talent I have helped lift me up in the hardest times.
My mission has been ever since to spread the word about the importance of meditative arts, whether it was mandala drawing, doodling, or simple meditative exercises.
This tutorial is very important because it teaches us to let our self go, to unleash the inner artist and express our feelings with colors and lines.
Inside each and every person there are hundreds of words longing to get out, but not all words are expressed through our voice. Some words can be expressed with art, and this is how I let my inner feelings out.
Please join me in my mission, and help me spread the word about meditative arts. So many might need our help and might find this relaxation method very useful.
