In this tutorial there is a Mandala and a zentangle. What is the difference between the two?
A mandala is made from a number of circles organized around the same center. As for the zentangle, it's a well defined shape decorated by doodles. So the flower in this tutorial is the Mandala, because, if you notice, the petals are repeated in well organized circles around the same center. The second circle in this tutorial is a zentangle in which I used the seamless curves pattern.
Both art techniques, Mandala and Zentangle, are excellent to alleviate stress and put you in a relaxing mood. They both help your mind stay focused on the art project and forbid it from wandering to dark places.
This Mandala art tutorial is categorized as easy, the patterns and shapes used are very simple and as a beginner you will learn fast how to replicate this design.
In order to replicate this beautiful design you need the following materials:
A4 white paper
Compass
Protractor
Ruler
Pencil
Eraser
Black drawing pen
Directions
1- Draw a 5 cm radius circle on the top left of your paper.
2-Then, measure 6.5 cm and draw a circle which center is the center of the paper.
3- The first circle traced will be a Mandala, therefor for tracing it we need a Mandala grid: Trace a horizontal and a vertical line crossing the center of the circle, then using the protractor mark a point every 30 degrees and trace the grid lines. Draw three circles with the following radiuses: 2, 3, and 4 cm.
4- In the first circle, start by drawing petals on each 2 grid sections.
5-On the second row, trace the same petals. Let each petal on the 2nd row start from the side of the previous petal (on the first row) and end on its other side. (More details in the video tutorial below)
6- Follow the same step for the two remaining rows.
7- Once the petals are drawn, add a tear drop between each 2 petals, having as a limit the outline of the 4 cm circle.
8- On top of each tear drop draw a reversed tear drop (further details in the video tutorial below)
9-Retrace the outline of the 5cm circle.
10- For the bottom circle, the one reserved for the zentangle, start drawing seamless curves until the whole circle is filled.

Why should every person give Mandala drawing a try?
In my years as a meditative art teacher, I have met so many people who feared art because they feared failure. And I taught them that their fear comes from within as they do not value themselves.
Fearing failure is fearing our own self critique. When I give my class in meditative arts, I don't only teach a person to draw I teach him how to evaluate himself and praise himself. "I am enough" a magical sentence that I learned from Marisa Peer. I write this sentence on my board every time I enter a class. If I can't teach you to value yourself I won't be able to teach you to express yourself in beautiful Mandalas. Based on what I wrote above, Mandala drawing is not only the art of drawing but it's the art of living and that is why everyone should give mandala drawing a try.

How to draw a twisted Mandalas
I enjoy creating twisted Mandalas and you can notice that from the many many twisted mandala tutorials posted on my blog and channel.
To create a twisted mandala or any mandala you need few materials.
- Stabilo fine point 88 (four colors of your choice)
Directions:
1- Mark a point on the upper left of your paper and trace a 6.5 cm radius circle.
2-Trace a vertical and a horizontal line crossing the center and cutting the circle into four equal sections.
3-Using your protractor, trace a line every 10 degrees.
4- Now trace circles inside the main circle with the following radii: 0.5 cm, 1 cm, 1.5 cm, 2 cm, 2.5 cm, 3 cm, 3.5 cm, 4 cm, 4.5 cm, 5 cm, 5.5 cm, 6 cm.
5- Start filling your mandala grid with regular petals by following the swirly technique that you can check on the video below and on the link I shared with you HERE.
6- Note that in this design the bottom right quarter of the circle must stay empty. So only trace petals on the three quarters of your mandala grid.
7- After you have filled the Mandala grid with petals, trace lines in the empty quarter as shown in the video tutorial.

HOW TO DRAW A RAINBOW MANDALA WITH A SPIRAL DOODLED CLOUD
If you have already watched my videos then you must have seen the optical illusion projects in which I use the spiral doodling technique. I personally consider this technique quite satisfying and extremely relaxing and it was beyond fun applying it on this cloud right here. I sure hope that you, in return, will enjoy it as much as I did!
MATERIALS NEEDED:
-Compass -Protractor -Pencil - 12" Ruler - Fine black drawing pen (Check the brand I use) - Stabilo fine point 88; codes:88/40-88/54- 88/44- 88/43-88/32- 88/41 (Purchase them here)
Directions:
1- Mark the center of the paper and trace a horizontal line crossing the center. 2- On the bottom side of the horizontal line trace overlaid circles (2 cm radius each) using a compass. 3- On the upper side, using the protractor, trace a line every 10 degrees, then trace half circles with the following radii: 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 cm.
4- Draw the outline of the cloud by retracing the outline of the small circles using the black drawing pen
5-Decorate the inside of the cloud by using the spiral doodling technique as shown in the images below
6- Once the whole cloud is filled, start drawing the rainbow Mandala. I chose to start from the darkest blue to the red.
7- Trace one regular petal on each grid section, and trace a pen stroke in the center of each.
8- Using the lighter blue, trace a regular petal on each 2 grid sections, then draw a tear drop between each 2 petals.
9- Draw a line in the center of each petal, and on one side trace diagonal lines, and on the other side draw a number of points. Last, color the drop petals.
10- Using the lighter green, draw a regular petal having as a start and end point the summit of the previous light blue color.
11-Fill the inside of the green petals with arcs as shown in the image, then draw a tear drop between each 2 petals.
12- Using the darker green, and taking as a start and end point the top of each light green tear drop, trace intersected petals as shown in the image below.
13- Retrace the outline of the circle and color with dark green the space created between the line and the petals drawn.
14- If you look at the dark green petals, you will see that we have bottom petals and upper petals. Now we will decorate the upper petals. First trace a double outline on the inner left of each petal, then another outline on the inner right of each petal, and last, draw a point as shown in the images below.
15- Next, trace yellow regular petals on each 2 grid sections, having as a start and an end point the summit of the petals. Fill these petals with arcs, then trace between each 2 petals a tear drop.
16- Using the orange color, trace triangles having as an end and start point the summit of each yellow petal. Then, retrace the outline of the circle and draw woven lines in the space created between the outline of the circle and the triangles. Last, draw three small orange tear drops around the yellow tear drop.
17- The last step is the red color. Trace petals taking as a start and end point the summit of each orange triangle. Fill these petals with arc and draw a tear drop between each 2 petals.
